Remembering Kristallnacht: 70th Anniversary

Tonight (Sunday) marks the 70th anniversary of Kristallnacht, the first Nazi pogrom against Jews. It is known as the Night of Broken Glass, marking the sheer quantity of broken glass left on the streets as a result of the rampage against synagogues and Jewish businesses and homes.

"Again I looked and saw all the oppression that was taking place under the sun:
I saw the tears of the oppressed—
and they have no comforter;
power was on the side of their oppressors—
and they have no comforter"- Ecclesiastes 4:1

"O my Comforter in sorrow, my heart is faint within me" - Jeremiah 8:18

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted" - Mattityahu 5:4

"So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" - Hebrews 13:6
